Surge Protection

From W's tripe last night...

"Succeeding in Iraq also requires defending its territorial integrity and stabilizing the region in the face of extremist challenge. This begins with addressing Iran and Syria. These two regimes are allowing terrorists and insurgents to use their territory to move in and out of Iraq. Iran is providing material support for attacks on American troops. We will disrupt the attacks on our forces. We will interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria. And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq. "

Great. As if we hadnt made enough of a mess out of the middle east - why not just blow the whole place all to hell. Pakistan has a LOT more to do with helping the Taliban in Afghanistan than Iran does in helping Shiite death squads in Iraq. Hell - why do the insurgents need Iran's help... captured sniper equipment is almost invariably US military issue and we left how many millions of tons of explosives lying around for bad guys to use? Yeah - it's all Syria's fault... sure...

"We will work with the governments of Turkey and Iraq to help them resolve problems along their border. And we will work with others to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons and dominating the region."

Heh. The PKK is Iran's problem too... not sure the Kurds are gonna be too happy about that one - and since most of the troops Iraq is planning on deploying into Baghdad are Kurds - i tend to doubt we'll be too terribly quick to piss on any of the imminent Kurd sponsored atrocities in Turkey.

"From Afghanistan to Lebanon to the Palestinian Territories, millions of ordinary people are sick of the violence, and want a future of peace and opportunity for their children. And they are looking at Iraq. They want to know: Will America withdraw and yield the future of that country to the extremists — or will we stand with the Iraqis who have made the choice for freedom?"

I think millions of ordinary muslims are looking at Iraq and wondering 'when will the infidels learn'... and that word - freedom... i do not think it means what you think it means. Fat Mike should slap you.

"Acting on the good advice of Senator Joe Lieberman and other key members of Congress, we will form a new, bipartisan working group that will help us come together across party lines to win the war on terror."

Bipartisan... so that would be the Republican Party and the Connecticut for Lieberman Party yes? Hmmm... i wonder how the party faithful will feel about that. This is how snippy does bipartisan - he did it with Bob Bullock back in his Texas stint - he just finds an 'in name only' member of the opposing faction and plays the 'working together' angle off against the media (and they always buy it).

But this was the quote that spawned this post...
"We go forward with trust that the Author of Liberty will guide us through these trying hours."

The Author of Liberty... yes... Kimberly please lead us all to the promised land. You couldn't do a worse job...
